Cracked: Illuminate Fracture

The Cracked: Illuminate Fracture light engages with aesthetics of repair, deconstruction and brokenness. The sculptural lighting solution encourages the owner to live without the pristine, questioning why we deem things to be broken and unusable the moment they become slightly damaged. The lighting solution is a ‘ruin’ without any history of use, the artificially broken and repaired porcelain disc becomes a sculptural indicator of brokenness. Further iterations of the light use opaque stoneware to draw kintsugi inspired markings on the porcelain to reveal the aesthetics of brokenness only when the light is illuminated.
